Indiana Health Industry Forum
Conducts Asset
Mapping |
Last Wednesday, the DCADC hosted
representatives from the Indiana Health Industry Forum,
a not-for-profit organization that represents an
alliance of manufacturers, suppliers, healthcare
providers, educational institutions, and government
officials aimed at helping Indiana create, grow, and attract
health industry enterprises.
Indiana Health Industry
Forum is currently working with consultants and economic
advisors as part of a strategic planning initiative that
will collect data from all sectors of the life sciences
industry in Indiana . The life sciences industry
has a variety of stages, including design, research and
development, production, and distribution. This means
the list of "assets" includes things like manufacturing
centers, healthcare facilities, distribution centers,
telecommunications capacity; anything that can
potentially attract investment from the life sciences
industry can be considered. That data will then be
analyzed and used to develop strategies tailored to each
unique region of the state, providing communities with a
better understanding of how they can attract existing
and entrepreneurial ventures based on their strengths
and community vision.

Kimball Electronics Group is one company
in Dubois County already working with the life science
industry.
Over 575,000 jobs
are currently connected with the health and life
sciences sector, and the future looks bright.
Indiana has been ranked as one of the
top three states in the nation for life science industry
by the BIO/Battelle Report, and the industry is expected
to create thousands of new, quality jobs in Indiana in the coming
years.

the life sciences industry and its impact on regional
