Dubois County Delegation to Visit Purdue

The Dubois County Area Development Corporation and the Southern Indiana Network for the Advancement of Manufacturing is sponsoring a delegation of business, education, and community leaders to attend the Purdue Advanced Manufacturing Summit in West Lafayette, IN on May 6.

This year marks the seventh year for the summit, which offers participants opportunities to engage experts in modern manufacturing techniques.  That expertise can then be applied to companies with the hope of increasing productivity and keeping local businesses competitive.

Bob Grewe, DCADC President, is thrilled at the level of commitment shown by business and community leaders.  "I'm very pleased and excited," Grewe said, "that we have nearly 30 Dubois County representatives attending the Advanced Manufacturing Summit and gaining a greater appreciation of Purdue's resources to assist manufacturers."  Local companies sending representatives to the summit include JOFCO, Versteel, Jasper Seating, MasterBrand, Kimball Electronics Group, Indiana Furniture, Jasper Chemical Coatings, OFS, Thermwood, and Dubois Equipment.

The summit features a variety of notable speakers, including Governor Mitch Daniels, Purdue University President France Córdova, and Allan Hubbard, former assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Director of the National Economic Council.  Topical breakout sessions will include securing government manufacturing contracts, environmental issues in manufacturing, implementing incremental technology improvements, and many more concerns of modern manufacturers.

The Dubois County Area Development Corporation has recently partnered with Purdue University, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, and the Orange County Gaming Region to establish a field office of the Purdue Technical Assistance Program (TAP) in order to better utilize the university's expertise in science, engineering, and manufacturing.
